CARSON CITY, MI – The on-court skills of high school basketball players from Carson City-Crystal and Fulton have helped provide Sparrow Carson Hospital a children’s table and chairs for the waiting room of Sparrow Medical Group Pediatrics Carson City.

Girls and boys junior varsity and varsity players from the two schools teamed up in January for Battle on 57, a friendly competition-based fundraiser that raised $402 toward the purchase of the table and chairs.

“We’re so impressed by the students’ willingness to do such a generous thing for our Patients. It’s so important we ensure our young Patients are looking forward to visiting the doctor and not frightened. This a small way to build that trust – by allowing them to feel that this place is just for them,” said Shelly Weaver, Executive Director of the Carson Foundation.

Battle on 57, named after M-57 that runs through Fulton Township and Carson City, is a day-long fundraising event. In past years, the teams raised money to buy a commercial grade rocking chair for Sparrow Carson Hospital’s Obstetric Department, an AccuVein infrared vein finder, and heated massage chairs for the Infusion and Chemotherapy Center.
