Charlotte, Mich. – Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital and AL!VE have partnered with Playmakers, an award-winning footwear and apparel store in Okemos, to offer free weekly injury clinics to Eaton County residents. The clinics will be on Tuesdays, beginning March 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at AL!VE located at 800 W. Lawrence Avenue in Charlotte, Mich.
Playmakers has offered injury clinics at its Okemos location since 1995.They are held Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and provide a free assessment, explore solutions and sometimes include referrals for further treatment to a clinical specialist. The injury clinics at AL!VE will follow the same format, and each week will feature a variety of sports medicine clinicians, including physicians, physical therapists, massage therapists and athletic trainers. There will be at least two health professionals at every clinic.
“These clinics are a great opportunity for anyone who has suffered an injury and is unsure how to proceed with treatment,” said Kim Dickinson, AL!VE director of clinical services. “It is common to see people with knee and ankle issues, but we will welcome all types of injuries, including to the back, shoulder, wrist, elbow as well.”
The clinics are on a first come, first served basis. There will be retail items available for purchase such as Kinesio Tape, cold packs and other taping supplies. The clinicians may recommend such products to help treat an injury. Charlotte Shoe Repair will also participate in the clinics to offer analysis of foot pressure points, and have shoe inserts available for purchase.
