In 2022, Gov. Whitmer is making the largest investment in state roads and bridges in Michigan’s history

LANSING, Mich. – This week, Governor Whitmer announced that major road repair projects are expected to begin this past Monday. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) projects include M-65 resurfacing in Alcona and Alpena Counties, US-41/M-28 in Marquette County resurfacing, I-94/I-69 bridge maintenance in Port Huron in St. Clair County, and crack sealing of 196 lane miles of state trunkline in nine Bay Region counties.

“Across Michigan, we are fixing the damn roads to save motorists time and money. Investments like these in Alcona, Alpena, Marquette, and St. Clair counties as well as nine Bay Region counties will help drivers go to work, drop their kids off at school, and run errands safely,” said Governor Whitmer. “This year, thanks to my Rebuilding Michigan Plan and the recent, bipartisan Building Michigan Together Plan, Michiganders will see more orange barrels and cones than ever before as we move forward at a record pace to fix roads and bridges across Michigan. Since I took office through the end of this year, we will fix over 16,000 lane miles of road and 900 bridges, supporting nearly 89,000 jobs. We will have invested 70% more in our roads in four years than the previous four years. We’re fixing our roads with the right mix and materials, so they stay fixed, without raising taxes by a cent.
