LANSING, Mich. – Foster Swift litigator Robert Easterly has been elected to the Board of Commissioners for District E for the State Bar of Michigan (SBM). “It’s an honor to serve; these are trying times and there is much work to be done,” Robert responded.
The SBM Board of Commissioners provides oversight to the State Bar on finance, public policy, professional standards, member services, communications and is the governing body for the 42,000- plus lawyers in the State of Michigan. Commissioners are elected from their respective districts and each will serve a three year term.
In addition to his SBM appointment, Robert was also elected President of the Davis-Dunnings Bar Association (DDBA.) He previously served as the association’s Vice President and Treasurer.
Founded in 1981, the DDBA is recognized as a special purpose bar by the State Bar of Michigan, providing support to African-American attorneys in Mid-Michigan through networking and professional development opportunities.
Robert practices in the firm’s Lansing office in the areas of criminal law, family law, immigration law and business law, focusing on helping startups and small businesses deal with the legal and business issues that arise during a business’ life cycle.
