Foster Swift Going Forward Webinars

February 7, 2023

As it now stands, a stay issued by the Michigan Court of Claims in July 2022 is set to expire on February 19, 2023. The result is the new Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA) and Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act (IWOWA) will go into effect statewide.

Unless the stay is extended, once the ESTA and IWOWA become law on February 19, the new minimum wage will increase to $13.03 per hour, and paid leaves of absence for all employees will be mandated.

To answer the deluge of incoming questions, Foster Swift is presenting a free webinar to prepare Michigan employers for the significant changes in state minimum wage and sick leave regulations.

This session will address:

  • the requirements of the new laws, including which employees, are covered;
  • methods of accruing leave;
  • the way employees request and report leave;
  • and how leave time is carried over from year-to-year.

This webinar will assist companies and organizations in navigating and effectively implementing the numerous and significant changes in state minimum wage and sick leave regulations required by the new statutes.

Human resource and management personnel from small and large Michigan employers will want to attend, as virtually all the state’s employers will be impacted by the new regulations.

Presenters: The following employment and labor law attorneys from Foster Swift Collins & Smith will be on hand to present and answer questions: Alicia BirachMike BlumKarl ButtererTony DalimonteCliff Hammond, and Mark Koerner.
