Professor Angela Davis Keynote

Rarely do we get an opportunity to be in the presence of icons, our heroes, and sheroes. BMCC 2023 proudly provides attendees with one of these rare moments. Join us as we end our two-day conference with the incomparable world-renowned activist, philosopher, feminist, scholar, and author, Professor Angela Davis.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama in the 1940s, Professor Davis knew of and experienced racial prejudice.  As a teenager, she started organizing interracial study groups that were broken up by the police, only the beginning of a life written about in books, nsong lyrics, movies, and so much more.

Professor Davis is a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and writes extensively on class, gender, race, and the prison industrial complex, with her latest book, Abolition.Feminism.Now. written in collaboration with Beth Richie, Erica Meiners, and Gina Dent.
