VIDEO: Careers in Energy Week Event - Youth Discuss The Future of Energy

As part of Careers in Energy Week, Youth Solutions hosted a Coffee with a Purpose on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 9 am, this was focused on careers in the energy sector, what the future of energy looks like to youth, and different ways youth can get involved in making the future of energy reflect the world they want to live in.
This virtual event included four Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) youth who are in energy and will be co-moderated by Roger Curtis, Vice President of Public Affairs for Consumers Energy, and Mollie Waller, Youth Solutions Executive Director. As part of Careers in Energy Week, Roger Curtis, Vice President of Public Affairs for Consumers Energy, and Mollie Waller, Youth Solutions Executive Director, will co-moderate a discussion with Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) panelists about the impact youth have on the future through careers in energy. JMG youth will discuss careers in the energy sector, what the future of energy looks like to them, and different ways they can get involved in making the future of energy reflect the world they want to live in.

  • Lewis Williams is a JMG Alumni from Cody High School. Since finishing school in 2018, Lewis has been an employee at DTE, working as a Maintenance Fitter Apprentice.
  • Seth Wilson is a JMG Alumni from Networks Northwest. He graduated in 2021 and quickly went into the energy sector.  He is currently an Electrical Apprentice with Atkin Electric and owns his own business, Wilson Works.
  • Zuberi Spencer is a junior and current JMG youth at Hamady Middle/High School. He was selected to participate in the Consumers Energy Summer Youth Academy. His future goal is to work in the energy industry.
  • Edrecee Taylor is a sophomore, JMG youth, and member of the National Honors Society at Hamady Middle/High School. Edrecee was also selected to participate in the Consumers Energy Summer Youth Academy where he learned about many different careers in the energy industry.
