At 1pm Thursday April 2, 2020 CAR (Center for Automotive Research), hosted the webinar: Arsenal Of Health :How Automakers & Suppliers Are Stepping Up to Support the Medical Response to the COVID-19 Crisis.

MBN attended, journalizing CAR's conversation on how automakers and suppliers are helping medical device and personal protective equipment manufacturers and the health care system during the COVID-19 crisis. CAR’s CEO and President Carla Bailo will be joined by Julie Fream, CEO and President of the Original Equipment Suppliers Association, and Colin Dhillon | CTO, of the Automotive Parts Manufacturing Association in Canada. Carla, Julie, and Colin discussed the automotive industry’s efforts to propel manufacturing efforts and get the medical community the critical products they need—including efforts currently underway in Michigan and Canada.

Meanwhile CAR remains committed to sharing the latest information with the automotice industry CAR researchers are monitoring the impact of the coronavirus outbreak (officially known as 2019-nCoV)—especially as it may impact the auto industry globally. Here are CAR resources and a selection of external resources to keep you informed on the automotive impact of the virus:

  • To help the CAR community gain a better understanding of the impact COVID-19 is having on the automotive industry, CAR created a coronavirus resource guide that is updated frequently:
  • After careful thought and consideration, CAR, along with OESA and HPE, postponed the Mobility Web Industry Briefing. All CAR working group meetings will be conducted virtually until further notice. The CAR spring Affiliates Dinner scheduled for April 16, is postponed to be rescheduled at a later date. CAR staff will reach out to you with more information about these in the coming weeks.
  • CAR is following all recommended travel, cleaning, and maintenance guidelines from the CDC website.
