CAMW! MVP of the Month | Dean Transportation

Michigan Business Beat
August 27, 2018 7:00 AM

download-4Each month Capital Area Michigan Works! highlights a valued partner from across Mid-Michigan. This time around Jeffrey Mosher catches up with Patrick Harrison, Human Resource Supervisor of Dean Transportation. Patrick talks about how Dean Transportation was named CAMW! MVP of the Month.

Dean Transportation serves school districts and public transit agencies throughout the state of Michigan and is headquartered right here, in Lansing, Michigan. They also operates motor coaches for hire. This allows company parties at Comerica Park and field trips to Cedar Point to be easily booked for large groups.

Majority of Dean Transportation jobs do not require a college degree. Many of the fleet service technicians have certifications or have previously trained through a professional trades program.  Another great part about Dean Transportation is that the company values promoting individuals from within. Many of today’s supervisors were once drivers or attendants.

The culture of the company is regarded highly in the amount of philanthropy being done each year. Dean Transportation sponsors many local events and Kellie Dean, our President and CEO, serves as a member of the T3 Teach. Talent. Thrive. Business Council in partnership with Capital Area Michigan Works!.

The hiring motto at Dean Transportation is to, “hire for attitude, train for aptitude.” We believe that an individual’s mindset about a position is just as important as the knowledge and abilities to be learned.
