AT THE HALL: DIGITAL ARCHIVES

Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to purchase a new scanner to help us digitize our extensive archives. Many negative and photo prints have been scanned and are now stored in our digital asset management system. The new equipment is able to scan at 1200 dpi, a vast improvement from the previous digitized files which were one-third the size.

STAFF PICK: OVERGROUND RAILROAD

The Overground Railroad by Candacy Taylor is the first book to explore the historical role and residual impact of the Green Book, a travel guide for black motorists published by 2022 AHF Inductees Alma and Victor Green.

Overground Railroad celebrates the stories of those who put their names in the book and stood up against segregation. It shows the history of the Green Book, how we arrived at our present historical moment, and how far we still have to go when it comes to race relations in America.

"For me, the Green Book re-contextualized and reframed the all-American road trip," Taylor said. "After learning about it, I never looked at Route 66 the same way again."

SCHOLARSHIP SPOTLIGHT: MARCUS

The Automotive Hall of Fame awards scholarships to incoming freshmen and upper-level undergraduate students each year. Scholarships are based on financial need and require a minimum 3.0 GPA. Eligible students must plan on a career in the automotive industry.

Marcus is one of our scholarship recipients for the 2021-2022 school year. He is a student at Florida Atlantic University and is planning for a career in automotive marketing and advertising.
