In Thailand, U.S. export sales reached $12.5 billion in 2018, an increase of more than 30% in the past decade. In 2016, Michigan shipped $515 million in goods and services to Thailand, primarily transportation equipment and information technology. As the “Detroit of Asia,” Thailand serves as an automotive hub.
