Absolute Music Chamber Series This Week!

College of Music, Richard Sherman joins SBW for a
bonus spot on SBW with the announcement on the
forth-coming last concert in the series of concerts called the Absolute Music Chamber Series.

The series ends with exciting news that Sherman will also perform on March 22, 2018 at the Urban Beat in Old town Lansing located at: 1213 Turner Street. Doors will open at 7:00pm and tickets might still be available at the door. Go to www.absolutemusiclansing.org to find out more.

The Absolute Music Chamber Series was founded in 2009 by Sherman and in collaboration with, Kathy Holcomb owner of the Absolute Gallery in Lansing historic Old Town. The mission of Absolute Music is to present the highest caliber classical chamber music in the European soirée tradition where music, art and hospitality are enjoyed in an intimate, informal setting.
 
The concert venue is Urban Beat Events Center. It has an acoustically superior space that can be transformed into an intimate performance hall seating up to 150 people. Each concert features internationally known musicians who enjoy performing in a cozy environment for inquisitive and appreciative audiences.

r_sherman_playing309x206.jpgProfessor Richard Sherman has given master classes throughout the country, including Eastman
School of Music, Northwestern University, Louisiana State University, Ohio State University, Arizona State University, Brigham Young University, and Youngstown State University. He has given master classes/recitals at the Sydney Conservatory in Sydney, Australia, and at the Queensland Conservatory in Brisbane, Australia.

His recordings with pianist Ralph Votapek, Flute Sonatas and American Landscape, are released on Summit Records. The French Album, with pianist Kimberly Schmidt, was released in January 2006 to critical acclaim. Fanfare's Jerry Dubin writes: "I cannot imagine any of this music being more beautifully or lovingly played than it is here..." Sherman's most
recent album, French Album II, Homage to Pedagogy, with pianist Ralph Votapek, was released on the Blue Griffin Recording label in 2012.

Show Biz Weekly, hosted by Taylor Kelsaw and Michael McCallum, looks into the business side of the entertainment industry by discussing various aspects of how the field of entertainment is a component of our economy and how their situations translate to the rest of the business community.
