The Michigan state average is up another 4 cents compared to last week

DEARBORN, Mich., (March 11, 2019) - Gas prices in Michigan are up 4 cents compared to a week ago. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $2.52 per gallon for regular unleaded, which is down 1 cent after setting a new 2019-high of $2.53 per gallon on March 8.

While this price is 23 cents more than this time last month, drivers are still paying about 7 cents less than this same time last year.

Motorists are paying an average of $38 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $9 from when prices were their highest last May.

"While prices may continue to fluctuate, the springtime increase is not over yet," said Nancy Cain, spokesperson, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "As the nation exits the winter driving season, motorists should expect pump prices to continue to rise as demand increases and stocks of gasoline tighten."

Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price increased. Metro Detroit’s current average is $2.52 per gallon, about 6 cents more than last week’s average and about 4 cents less than this same time last year.

Every day up to 130,000 stations in the nation and more than 4,200 stations in Michigan are surveyed based on credit card swipes and direct feeds in cooperation with the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) and Wright Express for unmatched statistical reliability. All average retail prices in this report are for a gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline.
