(September 28, 2020) - Gas prices in Michigan
are up 10 cents compared to last week.  Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.16 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is the exact same as this time last month but still 49 cents less than this time last year.are up 2 cents compared to last week.  Michigan drivers are now paying an average price of $2.06 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 10 cents less than this time last month and about 71 cents less than this time last year.

Motorists are paying an average of $32 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $12 from when prices were their highest last July.

In the new weekly report from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand saw a slight uptick to 8.52 million b/d from 8.48 million b/d. The slight growth in demand, alongside total domestic stocks falling by 4 million bbl to 227.5 million bbl, has led to increases in pump prices.

"If demand continues to grow, pump prices could continue to climb," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "However, as the nation settles into fall, demand will likely decline as drivers take fewer road trips."

Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price increased. Metro Detroit’s current average is $2.18 per gallon, 4 cents more than last week’s average but still 54 cents less than this time last year.
