The Michigan state average is down 6 cents compared to last week

DEARBORN, Mich., (September 14, 2020) - Gas prices in Michigan are down 6 cents compared to a week ago. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $2.04 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 12 cents less than this time last month and 55 cents less than this time last year.

Motorists are paying an average of $31 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of $13 from when prices were their highest last July.

In the new weekly report from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand decreased again from 8.79 million b/d to 8.39 million b/d.  Lower demand has helped pump prices to decline, while total domestic gasoline stocks fell by 3 million bbl to 231.9 million bbl.

"Low demand will likely help pump prices to continue their descent as summer transitions into autumn," said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA - The Auto Club Group.

Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price decreased. Metro Detroit’s current average is $2.15 per gallon, about 3 cents less than last week’s average and about 55 cents less than this same time last year.
