
Ann Arbor SPARK Annual Meeting and Luncheon
Ann Arbor SPARK held an annual meeting and luncheon Friday June 7, the organization released a new five-year strategic plan developed by its executive committee. The plan, developed through a series of retreats and facilitated discussions, was designed to make sure that the focus of SPARK’s efforts aligns with the priorities of those who provide the organization’s funding and help spur further economic growth in the region.

Telematics Detroit 2013 Conference
Telematics Update Detroit 2013 brought together the world's largest and most influential businesses in a focused conference and exhibition for the entire telematics ecosystem. Over 1800 executives attended along with 100+ industry pioneers speakers. These two days in Novi also allowed for plenty of networking. Topics ranged from "The ultimate end-to-end telematics platform" to "Make Big Data, Useful Data."

Michigan STEM Workforce Call-To-Action Seminar
The day-and-a-half dialogue focused on how the quality of STEM education can be increased along with; the quantity of STEM educated graduates that are eligible for employment in the Aerospace and Defense (A&D) industries; and the amount and effectiveness of engagement by A&D employers, working in partnership with others in their communities. The sessions were hosted in facilities next to the Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn, Michigan.

Mackinac Policy Conference -- Michigan Education Excellence Foundation (MEEF) announces it has raised $59 million to fund educational innovation, scholarships in Michigan
The Michigan Education Excellence Foundation (MEEF) announced today at the 2013 Mackinac Policy Conference it has raised $59 million toward its ultimate goal of $100 million.
“This fund and the contributions of so many are instrumental and truly showcase the commitment and collaboration underway to ensure our students are provided opportunities for learning and success,” said Gov. Rick Snyder.
Funds raised by the foundation will be used to develop innovations in education across Michigan that can be implemented expediently, tested and then spread to other schools when they prove successful, as well as a special scholarship program.

Governor's Education Summit
Following up the Governor's Economic Summit the education and business community joined Governor Rick Snyder on the topic of education. In addition, great breakout sessions, included Early Childhood, K-12 Education, Community Colleges, Universities, Business and Economic Development Agencies to support the development of talent, encourage partnerships and develop long range vision for regional growth.
