PNC Chief Economist Gus Faucher: Modest Upward Revision to GDP in Q4

  • There was a modest upward revision to real GDP growth in the fourth quarter, to 3.4%.
  • Corporate profits rose in the fourth quarter by the biggest amount in two years.
  • Real gross domestic income increased by a huge 4.8% in the fourth quarter, after noticeably lagging GDP for the previous four quarters.
  • The US economy will continue to expand throughout 2024.

LANSING, Mich. – Not seasonally adjusted jobless rates rose in all 17 Michigan labor market areas over the month, according to data released today by the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics.   

“Michigan regional labor markets displayed jobless rate increases typical for February,” said Wayne Rourke, labor market information director for the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics. “Employment gains were seen in most metro areas during February.”

AEG | Existing-Home Sales Jump 9.5% in February, Largest Monthly Increase in a Year

Existing-home sales surged 9.5% in February to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.38 million, the largest monthly increase since February 2023, according to a new report from the National Association of Realtors. Sales declined 3.3% from the previous year. Other key findings from the report include:

  • The median existing-home sales price elevated 5.7% from February 2023 to $384,500 – the eighth consecutive month of year-over-year price gains.

DEARBORN, Mich., (March 28, 2024) — Most U.S. drivers are still either afraid or uneasy about the idea of fully self-driving vehicles. AAA just released its annual autonomous vehicle survey. It revealed that 66% of drivers expressed fear about fully self-driving vehicles, while 25% were uncertain. This sentiment has not decreased since spiking last year.
