mackinac-conference_2.jpg Chris Holman spent some time with Jeff Mason, Executive Director, URC, (University Research Corridor), and Jeff Guilfoyle, vice president at Public Sector Consultants, while at the 2016 Mackinac Policy Conference. The URC is the collaborative effort of Michigan State University, University of Michigan and Wayne State. The latest report focuses on the contributions the universities are having on the city of Detroit. Mr. Guilfoyle’s report looks at the economic impact in terms of dollars and cents, and the broader social role the URC plays in Detroit. These projects equate to close to a Billion Dollars, and approximately 1-in-20 jobs in Detroit. The report reviews a spectrum of aspects that can be measured related to the Detroit comeback.
