HGB orthopedic services moves into new location as Eaton Regional Orthopedics

Charlotte, Mich. – HGB announces that its orthopedic services has moved to a new location as Eaton Regional Orthopedics. It is now located at 616 Meijer Drive, near the Charlotte, Mich., Meijer.

When HGB and Sparrow formalized their affiliation in fall 2016, they agreed to a collaborative regional approach to community health improvement and patient service experience. Eaton Regional Orthopedics is an example of how the two health care organizations are deploying the shared investments to grow services and provide greater value to communities in greater Eaton County.

Sparrow Clinton names Volunteers of the Year

ST. JOHNS, MI – Members of the Clinton County Open Food Distribution Team were recently recognized as the Sparrow Clinton Hospital Volunteers of the Year for their outstanding community service.

The food bank opened its doors in 2002, thanks to support from the Sparrow Clinton Hospital Foundation and the Greater Lansing Food Bank. The group now distributes food on the second Thursday of each month from the Bath Township Hall, assisting an average of 90 families per month. In 2016, members distributed 83,760 pounds of food to friends and neighbors in need.

Mass casualty exercise held at Sparrow Carson Hospital

CARSON CITY, MI – A mass casualty exercise was recently held at Sparrow Carson Hospital, simulating a tornado striking the west side of the hospital.

The drill involved community partners such as the Carson City Police and Fire Departments, Montcalm County Emergency Response, and students from Carson City-Crystal High School. Montcalm County EMS disaster response trailers were brought on-site just as they would have in a true disaster.

Delta Dental Foundation Awards $400,000 Grant to Sparrow to Expand Innovative Oral Health Project

LANSING, MI – The Delta Dental Foundation has awarded Sparrow a $400,000 grant to allow a two-year renewal and expansion of a first-in-the-nation research project that pinpoints how good oral healthcare can improve overall health.

The announcement continues the project first funded by the Delta Dental Foundation in 2015 that provided all Sparrow Hospital Patients with a higher-quality toothbrush, toothpaste with sodium bicarbonate, alcohol-free antiseptic mouthwash, and a suction toothbrush kit for those with difficulty swallowing or spitting.

Michigan Health & Hospital Association Recognizes Healthcare Champions

Awards Presented for Healthcare Contributions of Leaders from Lansing, Houghton, Saginaw and White Lake

LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) this week honored several individuals who have greatly influenced healthcare across the state. Receiving the association’s highest achievement award, the 2017 Meritorious Service Award, were Dennis Swan, president and CEO, Sparrow Health System, Lansing, and James Bogan, who recently retired from his position as regional president, UP Health System, and resides in Houghton.

The association’s 2017 Special Recognition Award was presented to Elizabeth Schnettler, the recently retired president of the Hospital Council of East Central Michigan who resides in Au Gres, and Michigan Sen. Mike Kowall (R-White Lake). The awards were presented during the MHA Annual Membership Meeting held this week.

Meetings with government, business leaders focused on bringing more jobs to Michigan

Friday, June 23, 2017 LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today said his investment trip has been productive in deepening relationships and making the case that Michigan is the best place for international businesses to expand, invest and create jobs. Snyder’s delegation completed their investment mission to the International Paris Air Show this week with a stop in Germany and Italy.

Joined by Michigan economic development leaders, Snyder spent the final day of the weeklong trip in Cadorago, Italy meeting with leaders from Clerici-Sacco to discuss Michigan’s focus on the agriculture and dairy sector, as well as related growth opportunities. Cerici-Sacco is a family-owned biotech company. The company’s customers include dairy, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical companies.

Sparrow completes major renovation of Hospital lobby

June 23, 2017, LANSING, MI – Sparrow has completed major renovations to its main lobby at Sparrow Hospital with the addition of a Starbucks, which opens Monday, June 26 at 5:30 a.m.

The world-famous coffee company will be located at the east end of the hospital lobby, replacing the Lobby Café. It will offer the hot and cold brews that have earned Starbucks millions of fans around the world. Besides beverages, it will have a full food menu, including hot food and pastries, and merchandise.
