South Korean delegation to visit Sparrow to study its Level 1 Trauma Center

Lansing MI - A delegation of trauma Physicians and government officials from South Korea will visit Sparrow as part of a tour of Level 1 trauma centers across the U.S. By some estimates, victims of more than 30 percent of fatal trauma injuries in South Korea last year could have survived with proper treatment.

Former Sparrow Hospice Leader Receives St. Johns Kiwanis Award for a Lifetime of Care

LANSING, MI – The recently retired director of Sparrow Hospice Services will be honored Thursday by St. Johns Kiwanis 707 Club for a lifetime of work to improve end-of-life care in Clinton County and throughout mid-Michigan.

Michele Wiseman, of St. Johns, will receive the Terry Cornwell Human and Spiritual Values award for “dedication to God and for outstanding contributions to the spiritual life and welfare of the community.” The award is named for a beloved teacher and counselor at St. Johns High School who died in 2005 at age 58 after battling diabetes for many years. Wiseman will be honored at a banquet held from 6-8 p.m. at the Emerald Golf Course in St. Johns.

Sparrow Gift of Life Challenge

Sparrow needs your help in winning statewide organ donation challenge.

LANSING, MI – Sparrow once again needs everyone’s help in winning a statewide hospital challenge to see who can add the most names to the Michigan Organ Donor Registry.

Sparrow was recently given a gold award by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration for its efforts to grow the registry and for signing up 241 people during last year’s Michigan Gift of Life Hospital Challenge. As a first-time participant, Sparrow took an impressive third in the challenge against larger health systems from throughout the state.

Now, we’re hoping the mid-Michigan region helps us do even better because providing quality, compassionate care is what we do.

Big Success for Drug Disposal Day!

Sparrow and the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office sponsored a community-wide Drug Disposal Day. Community members disposed of unused or expired medications, including opioids in a effort to address the opioid crisis. The unused or expired medications were disposed in containers monitored by the Sheriff’s Office.
