SUNDAY RIDES BEGIN AGAIN | FLINT RIVER TRAIL

Join the Friends of the Flint River Trail each Sunday

 

Flint, MI.  May 1, 2018 – The Sunday rides on the Flint River Trail will start on Sunday, May 7th and will continue every Sunday through October. The rides are leisurely and family friendly ride - usually of 12 - 16 miles with a short break mid-ride. The rides leave from the OLD Flint Farmers Market promptly at 2:00 PM. The rides are along the Flint River Trail and there are several destinations - including Stepping Stone Falls, Bluebell Beach, and the Genesee Valley Mall.

50 Years of Racing Exhibit presented by Consumers Energy

 

BROOKLYN, Mich. (April 30, 2018) – Two more cars and a truck added to the 50 Years of Racing Exhibit presented by Consumers Energy at Michigan International Speedway. The exhibit will house special memorabilia and cars that once raced on the two-mile oval for fans to enjoy.

The next three vehicles added to the display were fielded by Roush Fenway Racing, and not only raced at Michigan International Speedway, but also ended up in Gatorade Victory Lane.

March SlowDown in Single Family Housing Permits

Michigan’s homebuilding industry received a bit of a setback in March as housing permits for single family home construction were off 20 percent compared to March of 2017.   According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were 1,246 permits issued in March, compared to 1,562 for the same period a year ago.  Year-to-date, housing permits in Michigan are ahead 3.3% through the first quarter of 2018, with 3,337 permits issued in 2018 compared to 3,229 last year.

LANSING, Mich. – In honor of April as National Financial Literacy Month, the Michigan Department of Treasury is reminding Michiganders about the importance of saving for college and using a 529 plan as a way to save.

A 529 plan is an education savings plan designed to help families set aside money for future education expenses. Contributions provide state income tax deductions and earnings in a plan grow tax free and are exempt at the federal and state level.
