Chris Holman speaks with Melanie Duquesnel, President & CEO, Better Business Bureau of Eastern Michigan if your business can have both Success and Ethics.Small businesses face ethical decisions daily, on both a small and large scale. From trying to make your business look busier or more successful than it is, to stretching the truth in advertising, to skipping payments to vendors when cash flow is tight, small businesses have to make choices every day between doing something to get ahead or to cut corners or making a more ethical decision that might not be as lucrative. Sometimes it seems as though as a business owner, you can either be ethical or successful, but not both.

It is possible, but it doesn’t come easy, even when you mean well and you and your employees are ethical people. To keep you on track, it can be very helpful devise a code of ethics for your business and for all employees that outlines the principles and practices that your business aims to operate under. Creating one can help you make decisions more easily in the future when ethical issues arise.
