He has also served in multiple director roles of employer relations for the Broad College of Business and Michigan State University. The focus of this segment is on today’s job market. As a backdrop, the job market at home and abroad is driven by economic forces of supply and demand. For August 2019, the latest numbers show that of the 15 major industry groups, 12 added jobs. The three that most drove total nonfarm employment growth (on a seasonally adjusted basis) were health & social assistance, professional services, and financial activities. The three decliners for the month were information, natural resources and mining, and retail trade. Eric Doerr makes sense of today’s job market with an outlook towards the future.
