LANSING, MI – For the first time, Sparrow Forensic Pathology Services has released a quarterly report for local health and law enforcement officials about drug-related deaths in the five counties in which Sparrow serves as Medical Examiner.

The report was compiled in response to interest in drug deaths sparked heavily by the opioid crisis. The initial report covers the first quarter of 2018, from Jan. 1 through March 31.

Sparrow has also issued 2017 annual reports on drug deaths and overall Forensic Pathology services in the five counties, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia, Isabella and Shiawassee. All of the reports are available on our website at sparrow.org/?id=2662&sid=1.

As the Office of the Medical Examiner for the five counties, Sparrow is nationally accredited by the National Association of Medical Examiners to perform autopsies and other postmortem examinations as an important part of the death investigation process.
