NEWS: Lansing Community College ranked among the best schools in the nation

LCC logoLANSING, Mich. – Year after year, LCC attracts the attention of arbiters who recognize excellence in higher education and provide local and national rankings based on their findings. While rankings are only one measure of a college’s success, LCC is proud to be recognized for efforts to ensure our students are receiving the best instruction throughout their academic career.

The 2019 rankings for Lansing Community College include:

  • Intellignet.com ranked LCC the best online Construction Management Degree program. LCC is one of 50 top public institutions recognized across the nation.
  • EDSmart.org ranked LCC as the seventh best college or university in Michigan.
  • NSA/Department of Homeland Security designated LCC as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE).
  • RealWorkMatters.com ranked LCC as the second best technical college in the nation receiving the ranking when compared with 704 schools nationwide.
  • Nursingprocess.org ranked LCC third on the list of the 10 Best Ultrasound Technician programs in Michigan.
  • Schools.com ranked LCC the second best community college in Michigan.
  • Intellignet.com ranked LCC the best online Construction Management Degree program. LCC is one of 50 top public institutions recognized across the nation.

Rankings were based on many factors, including the selection of available programs, affordability, and retention and graduation rates.

Beyond academic credentials, LCC is consistently recognized for its financial stability, which includes recognition from the National Procurement Institute for excellence in public and nonprofit procurement. LCC is one of only two agencies in Michigan and one of only 25 higher education institutions in the U.S. and Canada to receive the award. 2019 marks the 17th consecutive year the college has been so honored.

In addition the college’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report consistently qualifies for the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). This certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. LCC has received the award for 10 consecutive years.

Our alumni have gone on to complete bachelor’s and master’s degrees and Ph.D.’s. They serve the community as firefighters, paramedics, nurses, police officers, welders, aviation maintenance technicians, teachers, electrical lineworkers, and robotics technicians. They are college presidents, elected officials, and winners of Academy Awards and Emmy’s.

Lansing Community College is truly a college like no other, and 2019 has been an amazing year. We are looking forward to 2020 and another year of serving students and the community.

Lansing Community College, founded in 1957, is one of the largest community colleges in Michigan, serving more than 23,000 students across a six-county area each year.
