Chris Holman catches up with Michigan Senator Gary Peters about how Michigan can become a leader in the development and testing of autonomous vehicle technologies.

Last month, the U.S. Department of Transportation named the, American Center for Mobility, one of ten facilities designated as a national proving ground for autonomous vehicle testing. Senator Peters has been outspoken on the need for this designation and how Michigan can become a leader in the development and testing of autonomous vehicle technologies. In pushing for the designation, Senator Peters helped bring former Treasury Secretary Anthony Foxx, the former Administrator of the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA), Mark Rosekind, and the former Deputy Director of the National Economic Council, Jason Miller. Senator Peters announced he will be working with Republican Senator John Thune, the Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, on legislation advancing the innovation and technologies behind autonomous vehicles.
