Consumers Energy is sponsoring the upcoming Michigan Celebrates Small Business reception and gala. Chris finds out why Consumers Energy is involved.
Consumers Energy have been a long-time sponsor of this event. Small businesses across this great state work so hard every day and this event is an opportunity to celebrate their successes. Since 2005, MCSB has been a high-visibility opportunity to celebrate the excellence of the Michigan small business community. The awards gala has grown from 400 attendees to a full-house of 800.  The mission of the program is to honor and recognize Michigan’s small business people as well as those champions and advocates that support them.

On May 8th the 15th Annual Awards Gala will be hosted at the Breslin Center in East Lansing Michigan, on the campus of MSU, my alma mater. This event is the most prestigious small business awards program in the state of Michigan. It is on the forefront of championing current small business achievement and cultivating the entrepreneurial spirit of future generations.

What does Consumers Energy offer to help small businesses?

Their offerings are numerous. For example, when you choose one of Consumers Energy's participating contractors to upgrade the energy efficiency of your small business, some of the cost of your upgrades may be covered by rebates that help offset your upfront investment. These improvements could include:

Replacing inefficient lighting with new LED's

Installing energy efficient lighting controls

Efficient refrigeration upgrades, where applicable

Exterior LED lighting replacement

We know that time is a precious commodity for small businesses. How much effort is involved?

These are easy investments that pay for themselves. My husband owns a small business and I know the many demands on his time. We make it easy at Consumers Energy:

Energy efficiency makes sense for your bottom line. The average upgrade in the Small Business Energy Efficiency Program saves enough energy to pay for itself in about a year.

As an added bonus, improving your energy efficiency doesn’t just save money. You’ll also be creating a more comfortable and productive work environment for your employees to do what they do best. And you’ll be doing your part to build a more sustainable future for Michigan.

We’re committed to a Triple Bottom Line of People, Planet and Prosperity. Supporting Michigan’s small businesses and making sure they thrive is key to everyone’s success.
