  • Projects add jobs in medical device, financial service sectors

LANSING, Mich. – Two business expansions that will generate a total of $13.1 million in private investment and create 145 jobs in Southeast Michigan have received support from the Michigan Strategic Fund, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced today.

“These projects will lead to new business growth and good jobs for our talented workforce in key industry sectors,” said Jeff Mason, CEO, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the state’s chief marketing and business attraction arm that administers programs and performs due diligence on behalf of the MSF.

“We’re pleased to work with our local partners and support these investments to further build the economy in Southeast Michigan,” he said.

Healthmark Healthmark Industries, Inc., develops and markets innovative solutions to aid healthcare facilities in their delivery of surgical instruments and other lifesaving medical devices to patients. Headquartered in the city of Fraser, Healthmark has announced its building expansion to accommodate increased production and employment requirements as a result of significant growth. The company plans to construct a new facility in the city of Fraser expanding its global headquarters and manufacturing and assembly operations. The project is expected to generate more than $12 million in private investment in the Fraser Industrial Park and create 139 jobs, resulting in a $1 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Michigan was chosen over competing sites in Washington, D.C., Arizona and Florida.

The city of Fraser has offered a property tax abatement in support of the project. Individuals interested in careers with Healthmark should visit www.hmark.com/careers.php.

“It is always gratifying to see an existing company like Healthmark Industries continue to grow in Macomb County,” said County Executive Mark A. Hackel. “We offer congratulations on their expansion and wish them continued success in the medical device industry.”

LS-logo Location Services, LLC is a premier provider of loss-mitigation outsourced solutions for the financial service industry. The services provided give credit unions, banks, captive finance companies and other financial institutions the ability to have one company manage the entire loss-mitigation outsource process, including auto refinance, collateral skip-locate and recovery, account administration, license plate digital technology, transportation and remarketing.

Location Services recently announced growth and expansion through its strategic partnership with Allied Solutions as well as the acquisitions of Auto Approve, MOXKOR and three industry recognized recovery agencies: Repossessors Inc., CARS Recovery Inc., and American Recovery Specialists of Florida. The partnership and acquisitions establish Location Services as a vertically integrated national direct loss mitigation service provider.

As a result of this growth, Location Services plans to expand its operations in Pittsfield Township. The project is expected to generate a total capital investment of more than $1 million and create 106 jobs, resulting in a $500,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.

“Location Services is poised to be the national leader in loss mitigation services and will continue to grow through acquisition and organically,” said Eric Gerdes, president and chief operating officer. “As a local resident, I am extremely excited to be expanding in this location given the talent base and work ethic of the potential employees from Ann Arbor and the surrounding communities.”

Michigan was chosen for the expansion over competing sites in California and Minnesota. Ann Arbor SPARK has offered staff time in support of the project. Location Services will begin recruiting and hiring immediately and will be looking for a variety of positions including operations, finance, compliance and information technology. “The addition of Location Services in Ann Arbor is yet another testament to our region’s reputation as a hotbed of talent and growth,” said Paul Krutko, Ann Arbor SPARK president and CEO. “We were thrilled to work with Location Services on securing the MEDC grant, as well as provide benchmarking reports and talent referrals.
