Meet Fresh Opens its First Michigan Location in East Lansing

EAST LANSING, Mich. – An authentic Taiwanese dessert experience delighted dessert lovers from around the region this morning in East Lansing, as the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP), Ingham County Economic Development Corporation (EDC), City of East Lansing, Small Business Development Center and company leaders gathered to announce the opening of Meet Fresh’s first Michigan franchise.

“As a loyal customer myself for years, I am excited to bring Meet Fresh to Ingham County and East Lansing,” said franchise co-owner Jinyang Xu. “I found this area to be full of diverse, welcoming individuals and hope all come to experience a taste of Taiwanese home.”

Rooted in natural and healthy ingredients, Meet Fresh has brought traditional flavor to the world scene since 2007. Meet Fresh, headquartered in New Taipei City, Taiwan, transforms high quality sweet potatoes, barley, red bean, taro and sugar into a delicious herbal jelly dessert. With locations across the globe, the East Lansing franchise is only the company’s second Midwest location and is a great compliment to the diverse culinary scene in the Lansing region.

“East Lansing is recognized as one of the most diverse cities in the state, and Meet Fresh’s opening both captures the essence of our community, and encourages and supports the growing interest foreign investors have in East Lansing and the region at large,” said East Lansing Mayor Mark Meadows. “We are happy to welcome Meet Fresh to our community and I want to thank LEAP, our East Lansing staff and Ingham County for their work in bringing this project to fruition.”

LEAP, through its Ingham County EDC contract, first interacted with Jinyang and partners Yifan Xiao and Allen Zhu through Butzel Long. LEAP partnered with the Health Department and assisted Meet Fresh with navigating the regulatory process essential to opening and operating a successful food business.

“Meet Fresh is a great addition to the Lansing region and a testament to the global community thriving here,” said Dillon Rush, LEAP’s Tri-county Development and Placemaking Manager, who manages the Ingham County EDC contract with LEAP. “This project is also a great example of LEAP’s regional purpose and our values in action—working together, stronger together, to make the Lansing region the best destination for business and global talent, this time in East Lansing.”

You can find and enjoy the flavors of Taiwan at Meet Fresh located at 1034 Trowbridge Road, East Lansing, MI 48823.
