LANSING, Mich. — With a focus on continuing to move LAFCU forward in today’s changing financial services environment, LAFCU has created the position of enterprise liaison.

LAFCU Jamell Williams

Jamell Williams (left) has been tapped for this new position and will develop, implement and manage various corporate initiatives that strengthen LAFCU, achieve superior member service and serve to live LAFCU’s philosophy, Your Credit Union for Life. The position is in the professional services division, with dual reporting to the department’s director, Ryan Larson, and LAFCU CEO Pat Spyke.

Spyke said, “This new position will allow LAFCU to respond with agility to organizational change in support of member-focused solutions. Jamell brings an extensive understanding of LAFCU and how it operates. He also has proven interpersonal and leadership skills, all of which will serve him and LAFCU well.”

Williams, of East Lansing, has nearly 17 years of experience in the financial industry, including six years with LAFCU. He has worked in member service at the LAFCU West Lansing Branch, most recently serving as manager. He recently received a leadership award from the Michigan Credit Union League & Affiliates in recognition of his commitment to self-improvement.

“I’m honored for this unique opportunity to help LAFCU become stronger,” Williams said. “It will be important to build relationships with colleagues, within LAFCU and externally, which is really a continuation and expansion of what I have done as branch manager, and something I truly enjoy.”

He represented LAFCU in the 2019 fundraiser The Dapper Dads Challenge. The annual event supports health care for mid-Michigan women through the Sparrow Foundation and its Women Working Wonders (W3) Committee.

Williams is a 2019 graduate of Leadership Lansing, a talent initiative of Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. He holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising from Michigan State University and remains active in the alumni association, assisting with new-student fall semester move-in and other student events. In the community, Williams is a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Lansing, where he is involved as a youth teacher/mentor, a men’s ministry teammate, and leader of the A.E. Flanagan Scholarship Committee, as well as supporting other ministries. He has served as a church trustee and finance team leader/member.
