John Hiltz, President of OHM Advisors, Livonia-based third generation architecture, planning and civil engineering firm speaks with Jeffrey Mosher about the roll of OHM in advancing communities at the 2018 Mackinac Policy Conference.
They discuss a bit of background and how his company is advising and assisting in this critical issue. They are working to raise awareness of not only the evident infrastructure issues with roads in Michigan, but also helping to educate business about the soon to be implemented Lead and Copper Rule (LCR). Senate Bill 0756, known as the Stormwater Utility Act, could also impact communities when they dive into upcoming infrastructure projects. Therefore during the conference John is working to get the word out to lawmakers, the business community, and hopefully consumers across the state.
Infrastructure not only affects our quality of life, it is a safety issue, and ultimately an economic issue as poor infrastructure results in a decline of property values, with citizens and businesses often moving out and resulting in a lower tax base.
