ITEC Awarded $25,000 Grant from Consumers Energy Foundation for TechTransport Program

LANSING, Mich. – The Information Technology Empowerment Center is pleased to announce a $25,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation. The foundation’s support will bring robotics and space science education to students in the Lansing Capital region in programs held on ITEC’s TechTransport bus. The converted motor coach bus brings hands-on, cutting-edge afterschool programs to students in Lansing community centers and housing commission locations.

itec“We are committed to providing world-class performance that delivers hometown service, and we are pleased to support ITEC and its programs,” said Carolyn Bloodworth, secretary/treasurer of the Consumers Energy Foundation. “ITEC is working to promote student success in science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, creating a valuable pathway to important careers with companies like ours across Michigan.”


“We are grateful for the Consumers Energy Foundation’s commitment to supporting the mid-Michigan community,” said Kirk Riley, Executive Director of ITEC. “This summer, ITEC is excited to be offering summer camps aboard the TechTransport Bus. We wouldn’t be able to offer these camps without the support of Consumers Energy.”
ITEC offers year-round afterschool STEM-focused programming for children in metro-Lansing schools and community centers. Classes include 3D Printing, Lego Robotics, Coding, and much more. Children in kindergarten to ninth grade are welcome to sign up for classes. ITEC is headquartered in the Foster Community Center and partners with multiple schools and other community centers throughout the Capital Region. For more information, visit www.iteclansing.org
