Incoming President of EMU talks Education in Mackinac!

Jim_Smith.jpgChris caught up with incoming President of Eastern Michigan University, Jim Smith who comes in from South Dakota’s Northern State University. Smith shares a bit of his career history. He then lays out what he is doing now as he comes into the position. Appraisal of the campus, facilities, and where they will look at improvements. Smith cites strengths such as the library. They discuss the mix of residential and commuter students, and the ways to balance enrollment. He also discussed how the Detroit metro impacts EMU based in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  The sports department is also an issue he will be reviewing going forward.
