Mason recently named CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation

Tuesday July 11, 2017 LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Jeff Mason to be president of the Michigan Strategic Fund and chairman of the Michigan Strategic Fund board of directors.

The Michigan Strategic Fund works to support economic development and job creation. Executive Order 2014-12 reconstituted the Michigan Strategic Fund within the Department of Talent and Economic Development

“Jeff is passionate about Michigan’s future and has a strong background in economic development,” Snyder said. “He is the best person to lead MEDC and the Michigan Strategic Fund as we push forward in Michigan’s comeback and continue to diversify our economy.”

Mason was recently named CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. He was the executive director of Michigan’s University Research Corridor, which he led since 2009. Previously, he was a senior vice president and chief business development officer at MEDC from 2007-2009. Altogether, Mason was with MEDC from 1999-2009 in various business development positions and served as the managing director of Travel Michigan from 1990-1999. He also served in various positions in the former Michigan Department of Commerce. Mason has a BA from the School of Business at Michigan State University.

Mason will serve a term commencing July 12 and expiring at the pleasure of the governor. Mason’s appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate. The Michigan Economic Development Corp. on Tuesday unanimously approved Jeff Mason as its new CEO, effective immediately.
