dte-e1527880935456Robert Feldmann, Executive Director, DTE Electric Sales & Marketing, joins Chris Holman on this segment of The Michigan Business Beat. Robert gives an inside look into his role with DTE Energy and their partnership the Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM).

DTE Energy along with Consumers Energy are partnering with SBAM on an energy efficiency program called Energy Solutions. The program gives small business members access to energy solutions that can improve their operational energy efficiency and help save money on energy bills. DTE’s partnership with SBAM reinforces their commitment to helping customers save money and promote the growth and revitalization of Michigan businesses.

How does the Energy Solutions program specifically help business? The program is designed to help take the guesswork out of how to save on energy bills, and gives small business owners a one-stop shop for their energy needs – including energy efficiency savings programs, information on rate options, and financing. In addition, both DTE and Consumers assigned a dedicated account manager to help customers navigate energy decisions and optimize energy use.

SBAM

DTE’s support fits in well with what SBAM is trying to accomplish -- to make it easier for small business to succeed. In just one year SBAM members have saved nearly $50,000 on their energy costs by participating in the Energy Solutions program! Improving the energy efficiency of a business can lower operating costs and energy bills, making a big difference in the bottom line.

What else is DTE doing to serve business customers?

They’re upgrading and strengthening our infrastructure – a long term investment that will improve the quality and reliability of the energy powering Michigan homes and businesses. DTE is investing nearly $4.2 billion in electric infrastructure upgrades over the next 5 years. (This includes technology advancements and replacing aging infrastructure –building and upgrading substations, trimming trees, replacing underground cables, replacing poles/crossarms, etc.)

Michigan businesses require higher power quality and better reliability than ever before. Customers who once depended on DTE to simply keep the lights on now require significant amounts of reliable energy to power computer workstations, data centers and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies.

Their goal is to provide safe, reliable and affordable energy. These investments will significantly improve reliability for our customers and ensure superior customer satisfaction.
