Please don’t buy it from Fan Authentics!

Detroit, MI – December 29, 2016 –  Since mid-September, more than 230 people have filed complaints with Better Business Bureau against Fan Authentics, an internet business that appears to operate from a  Southfield, Michigan location, after paying for sport-related merchandise, but receiving nothing.  To date, the company has failed to respond to any of the consumer complaints.

Consumers tell BBB that they placed their orders and Fan Authentics charged their credit cards, provided them order tracking information but they never received the merchandise. In several complaints and customer reviews, consumers say they repeatedly tried to contact the company without success.

BBB has attempted via email, US postal mail and by phone to reach the company but we too have not been able to speak to anyone.  All US postal mail has been returned for an incomplete address.

Fan Authentics has an “F” rating from Better Business Bureau.

Better Business Bureau received complaints from consumers in at least 43 states, including thirteen in Michigan.  Many complainants have yet to receive their orders. BBB strongly suggests that consumers who have not received purchases in a timely manner file a dispute through their credit card issuer to recoup their funds.

Merchant agreements with credit card companies allow sellers to charge a card when merchandise is ordered.  However, there is another issue regarding the company’s late deliveries.

Under the Mail, Internet or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule, sellers must ship merchandise within 30 days of ordering, unless otherwise specified in advertising or by mutual agreement with the consumer.  If an order doesn’t arrive within that time period, the vendor is obliged to inform the buyer that the delivery will take longer, and offer to cancel the order for a full refund within one credit card billing cycle.  Consumer complaints say the company provided no such disclosure to its customers.

Better Business Bureau urges consumers to check companies’ Business Reviews at bbb.org/detroit before making a purchase, and using a credit card when shopping online.  In the event of a dispute, you may consider filing a written complaint or use our online complaint handling system
