Developing strategy in the Aerospace industry

Michigan Business Beat

TonyVernaci.jpgIt is one thing to talk about growing Michigan’s aerospace industry but another to execute something that is actionable. That is exactly what Tony Vernaci, Vice President, Global Business Development, MEDC is in the midst of doing right now. He is helping to develop the strategy and a detailed action plan that will be broken down into 4 main areas.

Markets: Since the world is a big place and we have limited resources, it is important to know what the primary markets will be for us to focus our time and resources.

Strategic Alliances: This basically means what key industry relationships will provideus with the most traction. These will be industry associations, existing aerospace companies in Michigan, aerospace OEM’s, our in-state universities with aerospace programs and site consultants focused on the industry.

Communication: Planning the most effective ways to get our message out to the rest of the world. Leverage various media channels, develop marketing materials, enhance our website, build relationships with industry consultants like PwC and then also communicate with our own legislature to keep them informed on what policies and programs we need to compete with other states.

Key Events: These will be events we have identified as those with the most potential to reach our desired target audience.
