City of Lansing Introduces Façade Improvement Matching Grant Opportunity

LANSING, MI – Today, the City of Lansing annouced a new matching grant opportunity for commericial, mixed-use, and office spaces outside of the downtown area. The Targeted Façade Improvement Matching Grant Program will provide up to $15,000 in one-to-one reimbursed matching funds for new permanent structural and aestheic improvements in critical areas of the City.

 “The Façade Improvement Matching Grant program is a targeted strategic effort aimed at improving the economic vitality of the City,” said Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero. “These grants give businesses and building owners a new opportunity to help Lansing’s commercial corridors grow and thrive.” 

In order to apply for matching grant funds, businesses and building owners must be located outside of the downtown area, defined by Saginaw St. to the north, I-496 to the south, Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. to the west, and Pennsylvania Ave. to the east.

Applications will be accepted now through August 4, 2017 and awardees will be announced by August 18, 2017. Projects must be completed and grant funds will be reimbursed by December 31, 2017. Up to two grants will be awarded based on need, impact, financial capacity, and strategic location. Projects will be selected by a Façade Design Commiteee comprised of design and neighborhood development experts.
