T3 Career Challenge Day and the Importance of STEM and STEAM

T3 Teach.Talent.Thrive.Jeffrey is at the T3 Career Challenge Day, being held at MacDonald Middle School, in East Lansing, Michigan. He starts out interviewing, Superintendent of East Lansing Public Schools, Robyne Thompson.

Robyne is passionate about STEM and would like to see it continue to grow in the East Lansing School District. Currently there are over 100 students at the MacDonald Middle School that stay after school is done for a STEM Club. In addition, they have great teachers who introduce STEM, using robotics and hydroponics. Today, during Career Challenge Day, student have the opportunity to listen to speakers share information related to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), STEAM (science, technology, engineering, Arts and mathematics), to help students understand why they need to know this information.

Jeffrey then talks with Stan Kogut, T3 facilitator. T3 stands for Teach.Talent.Thrive., with the concept that if kids learn through teaching, they will develop strong talents, the talents will stay in the community and it will thrive. The vision for T3 is to be the exemplary STEAM region in America. T3 services the regional tri county area of Lansing.

Michigan Business Beat, hosted by Chris Holman, discusses economic development, new or unusual entrepreneurial initiatives, and successful business practices from different regions and industries around Michigan with a wide range of entrepreneurs and business leaders.
