LANSING, Mich. — LAFCU has announced that Amanda Seger has been promoted to accounting manager.

She will oversee the accounting department, assist in development of new products and services, and be involved in ongoing analysis to improve processes and efficiency.

Amanda (left) brings broad credit union experience to this position – from directly working with members to developing a deep understanding of LAFCU operations,” said Amy Parker, vice president of finance. “Her initiative and leadership skills will prove valuable in her new role.”

A 16-year veteran of the financial industry with nearly 12 years at LAFCU, Seger has wide knowledge in numerous functional areas, including member services, cash operations, lending and training, as well as accounting. She most recently was corporate trainer.

Seger is also involved in several staff-led LAFCU committees: She chairs the Giving Committee, which organizes fundraisers and distributes money to charities; is a cofounding member of the award-winning LAFCU Incredibles, an employee grassroots initiative that cultivates a positive work environment through recognition, appreciation and team building; and is a member of the education and casual dress committees.

“I am passionate about helping people succeed,” Seger said. “This position is an excellent opportunity to work with an amazing staff and seek ways to streamline processes to help LAFCU grow and thrive.”

She earned a bachelor’s in organizational leadership at Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, New Hampshire, and an associate degree in business management with a minor in finance at Baker College of Jackson in Jackson.

In the community, she volunteers as a photographer for the Village of Springport, her hometown. A personal passion is to support women who have lost babies in uterine or in childbirth. In this respect, Seger paints small rocks with the child’s name on it and either mails the rock to them or places it in her own garden, depending on the mother’s wishes.
