MMA logo.jpgJeffrey Mosher talks with Brett Gerish, Communications Coordinator, MMA (Michigan Manufacturers Association), Lansing, MI.

Brett discusses how Michigan Manufacturing output more than $92.55 billion in total goods in 2015, yet many residents can’t locate their community’s top manufacturers on a map or tell you what they do. They don’t know you or your story. National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) is your chance to help change that.

The 6th Annual MFG Day happens Friday, October 6 and it’s happening nationwide! More than 2,000 events are already registered and one in every 12 is taking place right here in Michigan. Last year, nearly 600,000 people participated nationwide and nearly half of them were the students — the future talent manufacturers are looking to hire. The Michigan Manufacturers Association is an official endorser of this event and encourages every parent, counselor, teacher, local leader, role model, manufacturer and student to participate. How? You can host an event, participate in a career fair, talk to students in the classroom, or even just get ideas for MFG Day next year.

#MFGDAY17

Ninety percent of people in a recent national survey said manufacturing was important to the U.S. economy, yet only 35% would encourage their children to pursue a career in the field. People know how important the industry is; now is the time to show them the incredible potential manufacturing careers can offer the next generation.

For more information, check out the resources available on the new-and-improved mimfg.org and register your event on the national website at www.mfgday.com. We’ll see you on October 6.
