LEAP and the Refugee Development Center Partner to Showcase New Ideas from Youth Refugees.

LANSING, MI

Event: Newcomers New Ideas Youth Business Pitch Competition

When Tuesday, July 25, 2017
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Middle School Student Presentations
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. High School Student Presentations

Where: 600 W Maple St, Suite A Lansing, MI 48906

Details LEAP and the Refugee Development Center (RDC) have partnered to encourage entrepreneurship among Lansing youth refugees through the Newcomers New Ideas event. Newcomers New Ideas is targeted to middle and high school students participating in the RDC’s 6-week GLOBE Camp. Through the GLOBE Camp, students participate in activities that help foster a personal sense of community in their new city. The Newcomers New Ideas event acts as a culminating experience, where students deliver their original community focused business ideas. Participating students hail from Burma, Bhutan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and more.
